All of a sudden, previously self-reliant Americans found themselves in the position of neutered house pets, meowing and howling at the prospect of not getting their guaranteed three meals a day.
Okay I promise this isn't anything crude and inappropriate. The title is fitting though. Events of late have called into interest sex education for parents once again. Over in Britain, talk that little Alphie might be a dad at thirteen has reportedly caused the government to consider offering basic sex education in kindergarden. Never mind that Alphie was having sleep overs in which his 14 year old friend (the mother) was sleeping in his bed with his dad's permission. It is clearly a failing of the schools sex education (yeah right).
Via Father Z
I remember years ago in the corridor of the Palazzo del Sant’Uffizio, I asked Cardinal Ratzinger how he took the constant unfair criticism. I had read that day a terrible article about him in an Italian daily.
He said, "If I don’t read an article like that every week or so, I have to examine my conscience."
Constrained by the Holy Spirit
…but it's good none the less. Fr Z. over at WDTPRS has a great letter from a Jewish Rabbi about what problems the Left Wing of the Catholic Church is causing.
It has apparently become a greater challenge to bring life into this world. Not that it wasn't already. As I face my last few weeks before my due date (knowing that at this point it could be any time now) I've faced many challenges. The biggest thing weighing on my mind being how she will be born.
I feel truly blessed to have the Bishops that we do. Archbishop Chaput, in a lecture in Ireland, had this wonderful quote:
“Here’s the point I want to leave you with,” the archbishop said as he brought his address with a close. “If the world of pagan Rome and its Caesars could be won for Jesus Christ, we can do the same in our own day. But what it takes is the zeal and courage to live what we claim to believe.”
“Lord, do not look upon my sins, but hear Yours servant through the mercy of Your inestimable charity. You did not leave us orphans when You departed from us, but You left us Your Vicar and Your ministers to baptize us in the Holy Spirit. By Your sacred power, they cleanse our souls from sin, not once, but again and again.
“O eternal Mercy, grant that Your Vicar and Your ministers may hunger for souls, may burn with an ardent desire for glory and in all things seek You alone, O supreme, eternal Goodness.
